JAN 09, 2018 - CATRINSIRIOL
SUSHI WORKSHOP – JOIN US FOR AN INTERESTING EVENING FUND-RAISING FOR CAERNARFON FOOD FESTIVAL. Thursday evening, 25 January, Phil McGrath, a member of the Caernarfon Food Festival Group will be stepping up to teach you how to prepare sushi! He developed an interest in sushi during time spent in California about ten years ago, and he’s keen on spurring the same interest in you! According to Phil, the meaning of sushi is ‘vinegared rice’, meaning that there will be no raw fish in the workshop (that’s sashimi!) and it will be suitable for all. For those of you who like seafood, tempura prawns will be available, but there will be plenty of vegetables for those of you not so keen. On the evening, Phil will also be sharing some information and interesting facts about sushi, including what you will need to prepare sushi and how to get started. This will include how to roll sushi using a bamboo mat, how to use ‘nori’ (seaweed) paper, how to cut a sushi roll and of course how to eat it afterwards! Soft drinks will be available, but we ask that you please bring your own alcohol if you prefer something stronger! The workshop will be held at Caffi Te a Cofi Gisda in Caernarfon at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £15 each with all proceeds going towards Caernarfon Food Festival 2018, and are available at Palas Print, Caernarfon – 01286 674631. Warning: Only 30 tickets available, so hurry down to Palas Print to avoid disappointment! Follow us on Facebook (page: Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon) or Twitter (@GwylFwydCfon) Back to the news page. |
