Porthi Pawb project helping locals during the pandemic

15.07.20

At the beginning of the pandemic, Chris Summers, Head Chef at the Oystercatcher in Rhosneigr, tried to think of a way to help the elderly and vulnerable in Caernarfon. So he set up Porthi Pawb.

At the start of the project, they used Cae Gwyn Catering’s kitchen to prepare the 70-80 meals a week with 4 volunteers. Today, as the initiative grew from strength to strength and the demand increasing, they now use Syr Hugh Owen school’s kitchen to prepare around 650 meals a week with a crew of 35 volunteers cooking and distributing to homes in Caernarfon.

Porthi Pawb relies on food donations and have received contributions from businesses like Harlech Food, O. G. Owen butcher and the local supermarkets. And local establishments such as Mantell Gwynedd and Adra have also contributed financially.

The demand for this project during the pandemic has been clear, and thank you to Chris and all the volunteers that help those in need of support here in Caernarfon.
