Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon will not be held in 2021

20/2/2021

With a heavy heart, we have to announce that the 2021 Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon Food Festival will not be held in 2021. Despite the current improvement with the virus, and the successful implementation of the Welsh Government’s vaccine programme, there is no guarantee that we could stage a worthy festival in May.

Since the start of the pandemic, and the postponement of the 2020 festival, our organisers have been holding regular digital meetings as well as volunteering with local schemes such as Porthi Pawb and others in the community. This safe contact has enabled us to stay in touch with the community in Caernarfon and we’re looking forward to being able to organise a public festival again and come together to celebrate all that makes our town so special, and welcome visitors to join us.

Over the past few months, the organisers have also been busy working with individuals and companies to produce various digital events to celebrate Welsh food and drink and also keep in touch with our supporters. We’re very grateful for this support as well as financial support from Cywain to stage some of the events.

Many of these events are available to view on our youtube channel and on AM, or through following the links on our website www.gwylfwydcaernarfon.cymru. We’re hoping to organise community events in the Autumn, if it’s safe for us to do so, looking forward to working towards staging a memorable event in 2022.

We sympathise greatly with those artists and businesses that have lost work and marketing opportunities over the past year. We, as a group of volunteers, will certainly be out there in the community offering assistance wherever it’s needed.

Look after yourselves and each other.
