Fundraising trip organised for Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon

Gwynedd locals are invited to a fun-filled trip to one of Ireland’s premier food festivals, all while raising vital funds for Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon, thanks to Elfyn Thomas of Teithiau Elfyn Thomas Tours. A weekend excursion to the Waterford Festival of Food in Dun Garbhan has been planned from April 25 to April 27, 2025, with all proceeds going directly to support Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon.

“We’re thrilled about this opportunity to not only enjoy an extraordinary food festival in the beautiful seaside town of Dun Garbhan but also raise much-needed funds for our own festival here in Caernarfon.

“Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon will cost upwards of £60,000 this year, and fundraising is a big ask. This will be a brilliant way to celebrate our shared love of food and community whilst fundraising, and we wish to sincerely thank Elfyn Thomas.”
Dun Garbhan, much like Caernarfon, is a charming seaside town boasting a historic castle, a central square, and a vibrant community of around 10,000 people. Both towns’ food festivals focus on celebrating local cuisine, sustainable practices, and bringing people together to create unforgettable experiences.

The Waterford Festival of Food, now in its 16th year, is one of Ireland’s most successful food events. With a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and community connections, the festival is expected to attract more than 75,000 visitors over three days in 2025, featuring over 80 unique events. Attendees will enjoy bustling food markets with 90 stalls, interactive experiences, and hands-on workshops, catering to families, friends, and food lovers alike.

The trip begins on Friday morning, April 25, 2025, with a coach departing from Caernarfon to catch the 9:00 AM ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, followed by a three-hour drive to Waterford. Participants will stay in a three-star hotel in Waterford city centre, complete with a swimming pool. Dinner will be provided at the hotel on Friday evening, followed by a lively social event.

On Saturday, the group will head to the Waterford Festival of Food for a full day, returning to the hotel by 11:00 PM. The return journey takes place on Sunday, with the coach departing Waterford for Dublin to catch the 2:50 PM ferry and arriving back in Caernarfon by approximately 8:00 PM.

The cost for this unique weekend getaway is £299 per person, with a £50 supplement for single travellers. Participants are required to arrange their own travel insurance.
