06/03/20At the end of February, with storm Jorge approaching, 10 chefs with a pan full of curry each made their way to the Feed My Lambs community hall in Caernarfon. The reason for the feast was the annual curry night, organized by the Caernarfon Food Festival team. This is a competition to create the tastiest curry and ten chefs make enough food for all 80 judges to taste their curry. But, there can be only one winner. And for the third time since the competition was established it was once again Rhys Edwards from Felinheli, this time with a Chicken Bhuna. Another Rhys came second, this time Rhys Iorwerth, with his brother Hywel tight at his heels. For the first time, the best vegetarian curry was also awarded this year. And winning that award with his 'Shahi Paneer' was another Felinheli chef, Ifan Rhys ('Rhys' seems to be a lucky name this year!). A big thank you once again to Ifan Tudur for his work in the kitchen managing all the curries and accompaniments, and to Ann, Sophie, Eleri and Sion for their excellent serving skills. We are also very fortunate that the two winners, Ifan and Rhys, have donated their cash prize to the festival coffers. Thank you very much both. Thanks also to the 10 chefs for competing and to everyone who bought a ticket for judging. In all, nearly £ 700 was raised by hosting the evening. Back to the news page. |
