Christmas Gin Cocktail Competition
As part of the digital events being organised to fill the gap created by the cancellation of this year's festival, Caernarfon Food Festival has announced a cocktail competition with a prize of three bottles of Welsh gin. Competitors are required to create a cocktail using a gin and no more than five other ingredients and share the recipe with a photo or video.
The competition is judged by Lowri Wynn and Ffion Emyr, both girls who love gin and are huge fans of the festival. In 2018 they had their own cocktail stall called Jinsan, held a very successful gin tasting evening to raise funds for the festival and judged the first Jinsan cocktail competition in July.
Back then, with the fine weather, the two judges were able to get together in a garden to test the shortlist and pick a winner - while staying 2 meters apart of course! "Melys Moes Mwyar" was the winning cocktail and Einir Owen from Garndolbenmaen won the prize of three Welsh gin.
Now it's a different story, and even though we had organised with a pub in the town to conduct the judging indoor from a safe distance, circumstances now mean that both will be over the internet in their own homes makes the all-important choice.
The closing date for your cocktails is December 13th and the final will be live on the Caernarfon Food Festival's Instagram feed on Sunday 20th, with highlights of the tasting session on the festival's YouTube and AM channels by the 23rd. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 and the entry form can be found by clicking here https://forms.gle/p88c6yVkpddB6YHQ6
Caernarfon Food Festival is grateful to be receiving support from Cywain to run this competition as well as many of the other activities run by the committee of volunteers, and everyone is hoping that we will be able to hold the festival again safely in 2021.
