Organisers of Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon Food Festival are proud to announce that the festival has received £3,900 from the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ community grant scheme. The ‘Bags of Help’ scheme is run in partnership with Groundwork environmental charity to distribute grants from the money collected from the Tesco bag sales to thousands of community projects every year. Nici Beech, Chair of Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon Food Festival says; “We are very pleased to receive this grant from ‘Bags of Help’ and would like to thanks local residents who voted for the festival with their blue and red coins in Caernarfon Tesco throughout September and October. The money is very valuable to our fundraising efforts which means we can keep the festival a free and open for all from Caernarfon and beyond. The ‘Bags of Help’ scheme also coincides with one of our core values, keeping the festival as environmentally friendly as possible. We encourage our stallholders to use recyclables, we install recycling bins around the town, and this year we are looking into a reusable pint glass system.” The fundraising efforts will continue this weekend with the festival’s Christmas Market being held at Copa, Caernarfon on Saturday, 8th December 10:00 – 16:00. Local food and craft producers and makers will sell their products with a special visit by Santa Claus to his grotto. There will also be an opportunity to purchase tickets to other fundraising evenings organised by the festival including Gin Night, Curry Competition and the grand Gala Evening – great Christmas gift ideas.
