Family Area

We hope that the 'Hwyl Dros yr Aber' area makes sure that Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon is a festival for the whole family, and on 10 May Parc Coed Helen will be dedicated entirely to children and young people. We hope that it will offer a slightly quieter and calmer space where families can escape the hustle and bustle of the festival itself.

According to Lois, a mother of two who lives in Caernarfon: "As much as we enjoy the food festival every year, it's a bit of a struggle with children: trying to push a pram through thousands of people and trying to keep the children entertained. We look forward to spending our time in the new family-friendly space, and there will be food and drink stalls, so parents don’t miss out!”

The animal enclosure is a staple at the food festival by now, too, and the tent full of the wonders of the agricultural world is back this year, this time in Parc Coed Helen. Thanks to Coleg Glynllifon, there will be a shearing display, an opportunity to say hello to farm animals, a dog grooming session, old farm machinery and much more.

In addition to that there will be art and craft activities, food and drink stalls, and appearances by Cyw characters.

So, families of Caernarfon: if the hustle and bustle of the food festival is too much and you keep losing your children in the crowd, head to Dros yr Aber!

Thanks to Mr. Davies and Ysgol y Gelli's Digital Committee for creating a great video promoting the Dros yr Aber family area at Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon
